The Last Flight: Joplin Jbirds vs Chillicothe Mudcats 7/25/2026

The last regular season game for the Jailbirds (24-13, 23-13 MINK) saw them decimate the Chillicothe Mudcats (12-24, 13-24 MINK) 19-9.

The Jailbirds clinched the 3rd seed and will play the North Missouri Naturals in the first round Monday July 27th with first pitch at 7pm.

Chillicothe would score 6 runs in the 1st.

Joplin would get 1 back in the bottom of the 1st as a Landin Midgett single to right field would score Jordan Tucker.

In the 2nd Shadrach Salazar would hit a double that scored 2. Blake Jones would then score Salazar. Drew Vonder Harr hit a single of his own to score Jones and make the score 6-5 Mudcats.

As the fans cheered “homer” Salazar would give them exactly what they asked for and crush it into Jbirds bull pen out past left field. As the 3rd inning ended it would all be tied at 6.

The Mudcats would get the lead back, scoring 1 run in the 4th.

The Jailbirds didn’t feel like leaving their playoff position to fate and It would be an explosive inning for the birds in the 4th. They would score 8 runs to blow open this game. Some of the highlights included a Marsh double that scored 2, a Jordan Tucker triple that would clear loaded bases, and a Blake Jones single to score 1. This put the score at 14-7 at the end of the 4th.

8 runs wouldn’t be enough for the birds as they would score 2 more in the 5th. A Rocco Regan single would score both Marsh and Vonder Harr

Chilicothe would get 2 runs in the 6th to put the score at 16-9 Joplin.

A wild pitch and Regan single with 2 RBIs would put Joplin up 19-9 going into the 7th inning.

The Mudcats wouldn’t get anything going in the 7th and the Jailbirds would win 19-9 with a mercy rule.

Kaylor Darnell picked up the win. He pitched in 3.1 innings, allowed only 1 hit, and struck out 2 batters.

Shadrach Salazar  was the MAPP Technologies Jailbird of the Game. They had 2 hits on 3 at bats, 4 RBIs, and 1 home run.
