The Force is Strong in this One: Joplin Jailbirds vs Chillicothe Mudcats 7/24/26

Joplin (23-13, 22-13 MINK) would dominate a weary Mudcats (12-22, 12-23 MINK) team 14-4 in 7-inning mercy rule.

After this game the Jailbirds only have one game left to play before the end of the regular season but still have a shot to get a first round bye.

The Jailbirds will conclude their regular season Saturday July 25th at 7pm.

The Jailbirds would get off to a strong start. They scored 3 runs in the 1st. The first came as Landin Midgett hit into a double play. Jordan Tucker would find his way home. Drake Lee would continue his hot streak with a 2 RBI home run as he cleared the left field line with plenty of room to spare. 

The Mudcats wouldn’t go away easily. They scored 2 in the top of the 2nd. 

As “Duel of the Fates” played over the speakers Drew Vonder Haar stepped up to the plate and on the fourth pitch he saw he would send it over the fence for a home run and run number 4 for the Jailbirds.

That 4-2 scoreline wouldn’t hold long as Austin Marsh would hit a double that would score runners from second and third. 

The Mudcats would get 1 in the 4th to make it a 6-3 game. 

The Jbirds would continue their strong push to the playoffs with an astounding 7 runs in the 4th. Some of the big plays from the inning included a base-clearing double from Williams Jr. that scored 3 runners and a Drake Lee single scored 2.

The Mudcats would get 1 in the 6th to try and stop a mercy rule.

A Jordan Tucker sac fly in the bottom of the 6th that scored Charlot would put Joplin back up by 10.

The Mudcats would be held scoreless in the 7th and the game would end Joplin 14 Chillicothe 4.

Kolt Ungeheuer would receive the win moving to 4-1.

Eric Williams Jr. was the MAPP Technologies Jailbird of the Game. He went 2 for 3, had 3 RBIs, and scored 2 runs.
