Pittsburg Player signs with the Joplin Jailbirds

Kolt Ungeheuer will play in Joplin this summer

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Joplin Jailbirds sign sophomore right-handed pitcher and utility player, Kolt Ungeheuer, from the Pittsburg Gorillas to the summer roster.

Ungeheuer joins the Jailbirds after a standout high school career at Columbus High School, where he earned First Team Kansas Class 3A All-State honors as a senior in 2023. Ungeheuer helped lead the Titans to consecutive 21-3 seasons and back-to-back state runner-up finishes during his prep career. As a senior, he hit .457 with seven home runs. Now competing his redshirt sophomore season, Ungeheuer will look to continue developing his game and gain valuable experience this summer in Joplin.

“We are excited to have Kolt join us this summer. He will be a workhorse for our pitching staff and we are excited to see him throw some big innings for us!” shared Jailbirds Field Manager, Octavio Sanchez.

The Joplin Jailbirds will debut in Kirksville on May 29th, and their season home opener in Joplin on Tuesday, June 2nd.
