Joplin Jailbirds sign Pittsburg Right-handed Pitcher to the Roster
Lucas Vanlanduit will play in Joplin this summer
JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Joplin Jailbirds sign sophomore and Carl Junction alum, Lucas Vanlanduit, to the summer roster from Pittsburg State University.
Vanlanduit is a right-handed pitcher competing for the Pittsburg Gorillas. In the 2025 season, Vanlanduit appeared in three games as a relief pitcher for 2.2 innings, striking out two and holding opponents to a .125 average. In 2026, Vanlanduit made three more appearances and continues to build his skills.
“I had the pleasure of coaching Lucas in football his freshman year of high school. He’s a great kid and we are excited for him to be a Jailbird this summer.” shared Jailbirds GM, Donovan Harns.
The Joplin Jailbirds will debut in Kirksville on May 29th, and their season home opener in Joplin on Tuesday, June 2nd.
