Jailbirds sign Mississippi Valley State University Infielder

Eric Williams will be playing for the Joplin Jailbirds this summer

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Joplin Jailbirds signed sophomore, Eric Williams, a St. Louis, MO local to the roster for the summer.

Williams posted a .327 batting average during his freshman campaign and followed with a .235 average in his sophomore season, while also improving his defensive experience in the infield. Defensively, he recorded a .908 fielding percentage before finishing the 2025 season with a .875 mark. His versatility, work ethic, and continued development make him a strong addition to the Jailbirds roster this summer.

“I am super excited to have Eric joining the team this summer! Eric is a top of the lineup bat that can really run. Defensively he has the versatility to play all over the infield and outfield. We are glad to have him in Joplin this summer as he will have a major role in our success.” says Jailbirds Field Manager, Octavio Sanchez.

The Joplin Jailbirds will debut in Kirksville on May 29th, and their season home opener in Joplin on Tuesday, June 2nd.
