Jailbirds sign Jose Gomez from Mt. San Antonio College

California Freshman third baseman to Missouri for the 2026 summer 

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Joplin Jailbirds sign freshman, Jose Gomez, a third baseman from Mt. San Antonio College to play on the Jailbirds’ inaugural roster. 

Gomez is currently in-season at MT. San Antonio College. He holds a .143 batting average from this season and .278 on base percentage. Gomez continues to shape his game until he arrives to Missouri at the end of May. 

“We are excited for Jose to join us this summer! Excited with the pipeline that we are building to a program like MT. San Antonio College” stated Jailbirds GM, Donovan Harns. 

The Joplin Jailbirds will debut in Kirksville on May 29th, and their season home opener in Joplin on Tuesday, June 2nd.
