Jailbirds expands Coaching Staff for the 2026 Season

Nate Mieszkowski will be joining Joplin as assistant coach

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Joplin Jailbirds have announced the addition of Nate Mieszkowski to the coaching staff for the upcoming season.

Mieszkowski is currently in his first season as a graduate assistant coach at Missouri Southern State University following a standout four-year playing career with the Lions. A record-setting hitter during his collegiate career, he earned multiple All-American and All-Region honors in 2023 while setting Missouri Southern single-season records for hits and runs scored.

During his final season, Mieszkowski started nearly every game between second base and shortstop, finishing with a .374 batting average while establishing himself as one of the top players in the program’s recent history.

The Jailbirds are excited to add Mieszkowski’s playing experience, leadership, and knowledge of the game to the organization as the team prepares for its inaugural season in the MINK League.

The Joplin Jailbirds will debut in Kirksville on May 29th, and their season home opener in Joplin on Tuesday, June 2nd.
