Another Exciting Tuesday Night in Joplin: Joplin Jailbirds vs Nevada Griffons 7/7/2026
The Jailbirds (15-8, 14-8 MINK) would grind out an extra inning win 7-6 against The Nevada Griffons (6-19, 6-18 MINK)
The Jailbirds will play the Griffons in Nevada on the 8th. The next home game will be against the Carroll Merchants on the 21st.
The Griffons would start the game with 3 runs in the 1st.
Drew Vonder Harr would score the Jailbirds 1st run with a home run to right field.
In the bottom of the 7th, Shadrach Salazar would advance to after a double he hit went out of play. Rocco Regan would hit a single to follow that up and score a run. Regan would then tie the game off a wild pitch. Eric Williams Jr. would hit a single to right field to score Drew Vonder Harr and take the lead for the Jailbirds. This set the score 4-3 Joplin.
The Griffons would tie the game at 4 in the top of the 8th.
Some 9th inning heroics from pitcher Marcus Young, including a spectacular diving grab, would keep things level going into the bottom of the 9th.
The bottom of the 9th would be quick and Joe Becker would see extra innings.
The Griffons would score 2 times in the 10th.
A throwing error would allow Jayce Walker to score and a Blake Jones sac fly would tie the game. With the game tied in the 10th a wild pitch would set Williams Jr. on 3rd and Landin Midgett on 2nd. Salazar would step up to the plate with 2 outs and the game winning run at 3rd. Pressure would make diamonds as Salazar would hit the ball perfectly into the gap behind the shortstop and ahead of the left fielder. Williams Jr. would score and the Jailbirds would win 7-6 in a dramatic fashion.
Marcus Young would pick up the win, his first of the year.
Shadrach Salazar would be named the MAPP Technologies Jailbird of the Game from that walk-off winner as well as going 2 for 5 and getting an RBI.
